Naifest Organizer Bridget Achieng has come out to defend herself over Tanasha Donna’s cancellation of her performance at her latest naifest event, after being marketed as being part of the line-up.
According to Bridget, Tanasha and her had not signed any contract and had only agreed verbally that Tanasha would perform at the event in exchange for a paid flight ticket to Nigeria , coupled with introduction to Bridget’s Nigerian music contacts at the Afrimma awards ; the terms being set Tanasha Donna herself [ according to Bridget Achieng ].
” Tanasha was like Bridget, I want to go to Nigeria and you set me up with the people you know in Afrimma. I want to be in your line up as well, I don’t know how we will go about it.”
It was then that the former socialite says Tanasha and her made a verbal agreement to the effect that Tanasha would perform at the event in exchange for a fully paid flight to Nigeria and the sway of Bridget’s contacts at Afrimma to secure Tanasha an award.
According to Bridget, trouble however knocked at her door when Tanasha Donna texted her two days to the event , demanding a deposit .
“She said that oh, I need the deposit, I think you should pay me first then we will talk about Afrimma later on.”
Bridget said that she learnt of Tanasha’s cancellation through social media after waiting for Tanasha to show up at the sound check a day to the event , Tanasha having travelled to the coast.
“Before I say anything else, I would like to first and foremost apologize to my fans for not being able to perform at @the_nai_fest this Saturday. Due to unforeseen circumstances, my team and I had to cancel the show. To my fans &supporters, rest assured, there will be many more to come,” the singer wrote in part.
Bridget has also accused Tanasha of being rude to her , saying that her rudeness is a probable reason as to why they were not together with Diamond anymore.
The Naifest event was marred with many controversies including the death of a youth at the hands of the event’s bouncers.
Police are investigating the matter and it remains to be seen what will become of it.
